First day of 3rd Grade

Today was Sophie's first day of third grade. She is very excited to be in Mrs. Clayton's classroom. Her day started off with a yummy breakfast of waffles, eggs, strawberries, and turkey bacon. Her day ended with Eclairs. But, the best part was in the middle of the day when she got to see all her friends from last year. She was excited to share her "STAR" notebook for all her homework. I think this will be a great year.

Eat your vegetables!

I made this really yummy Cous-cous salad (inspired by our friends at a BBQ last weekend) for lunch. Whole wheat cous-cous with black beluga lentils, tomato and cayenne pepper seasoning. I also sautéed zucchini and bell peppers and mixed it all together topped of with some parmesan cheese. It was yummy. Olivia loved it, especially the "black beetle lentils." however, she decide that the veggies were optional. We have a "you must eat your veggies rule." After about thirty minutes we were sick of her whining so we sent her outside to eat in solitude.

By the way, she did eventually finish ALL of her veggies!

East Fork Hike

Today we went hiking with some friends up East Fork. It was a beautiful day complete with a picnic and some "fishing" with pine cones.

Molly

Sophie got a big gift for her 8th birthday. She got to pick out her own cat. Molly is a shelter cat, about a year old, and is very shy and tiny. She is starting to come out of her shell, but is terrified of Dogs. Brutus will have to behave himself.

Monterey CA, take two

A few more pictures from our trip.

Sophie is spying some Sea lions.

Matt & GG-pa on their way to start their golf game at Pebble Beach. Aren't they a handsome duo! (I know what Matt is going to look like 50 years)

Olivia & Sophie Skating

Ice skating and other stuff.

A beautiful sisters picture, but in order to get it, I had to agree to take a gross picture (see below)
Here we are at the ice rink. We lasted about 90min. Not bad for a first timer!

We had a four day weekend, so we asked the girls what they wanted to do. Ice Skating? Why...I have no idea, but here we go. I'm going to try to post the videos of them.

some pictures

This is Olivia's Goofy Grin. We don't know where she picked it up, but we think it is pretty hilarious.

Ooops...caught me!

Olivia's new shoes

Yesterday we were shopping in Santa Fe, and Olivia's cute brown mary janes kept falling off. They were getting a bit small anyway, so I got her some tennis shoes. She was so excited, especially when I told her that they would make her run extra fast, and jump super high! Last night she took them off on her own, and this morning she spent about 20 minutes trying to tie them! I finally interceded and tied them for her, but she watched every single turn of my hands.

Big bath bubble fun.

Since we've moved into our new home, we've only used the big bathtub a few times. Today the girls figured out that if you add a little bubble bath and turn on the jets, it makes lots and lots and lots of bubbles.
Sophie buried in the bubbles.

Not sure, but I think we were going for a lion's mane.

Olivia's 2nd B-day party.

Olivia turned two this weekend. She had a grand party, almost 50 people stopped buy. I think it helped that everyone wanted to see our new house! Unlike my sister, I am not lazy and I am updating my blog:
Blow out the candles!

Eat some cake. Yum.
