Away...

We are all packed up and ready to go! It is AMAZING how much junk a baby requires. We finally have Sophie in a position that she can carry her own stuff, and doesn't require a lot of loot when we travel, and then we go and have Olivia. Her diapers take up half of my suitcase alone! I decided to buy them here and pack them so that we'd have extra space for souvenirs on the way home. But we are ready to go...this is a big trip for us and we hope to have loads of fun despite the two incoming hurricanes. I'm not planning on posting while we are gone, so see you on the flip side.

11 Months Old...

Wow, Olivia is a mover and a shaker. She goes, goes, goes. She only stops when she is sleeping. Otherwise, everything she does it is with full force. She is either crawling, eating, or tearing things apart. Yesterday, I was taking her 11month Pooh photo, and it took FOREVER for her to be still enough to even snap a few shots, because she'd either throw Pooh Bear across the room, or tackle him, or crawl away. Oh well, I figure that this just shows what a busy girl she is. And yes, she is standing on her own for a few seconds at a time. Then she throws her arms up in the air (I guess nobody has explained the principle of a low center of gravity), and takes a few big steps. Sadly she either falls on her knees, or flat on her face. (We've already had a bloody lip.)

Olivia LOVES Eeyore

Today while Sophie was school, Olivia and I had some quite time. I really got to "listen" to what she wanted. We had been keeping her Eeyore stuffed animal up on the shelf in her room because she used to get tons of black hair in her mouth when she'd play with him. Anyway today, she was pointing and using her "I want that" sound up toward Eeyore. I got him down and she immediately snuggled into him. Olivia isn't a big snuggler, not like Sophie, but she sure loves her Eeyore. I took this video a good fifteen minutes later, and she still reacted with hugs for him!

First time First Grader

Sophie started school today. She was defiantly ready, (and so was I). I never understood why parents wanted their kids in school....until now! Our biggest concern was that today was a little chilly (45 F when I was running!) and the outfit she picked out was a skort and short sleeved top. It turned out okay once the sun came up it warmed to a toasty 65 F, and we made it to school without incident.

Our little Triathlete

Today Sophie participated in the Los Alamos Kids Triathlon. It is a "non-continuous, non competitive" triathlon for kids. They have different age groups, and she was in the Pee-Wee group. She biked 1/4 mile, ran a 100yard dash, and swam 25m. She had a great time. The videos are coming, but here are a few pictures too.

Takin' a trip

Olivia likes to pull out this bag, and it makes Sophie and I laugh because it is the perfect sized luggage for a baby. When ever she pulls it out (multiple times a day), everyone asks, "Olivia are you taking a trip?" And she just laughs at us.

Accessory Party

This weekend, Matt took off to Denver for a friend's B-day party so us gals were home alone. I decided if I was going to be stuck in the house on a Saturday night (not that I normally go out) I'd have some friends over. Many people were out of town, and so we'll have to do this again, but I had an accessory exchange party. We had a blast. We had so much fun trying on each others cast off jewelery, bags, etc... It is true, one man's (or woman's) trash is another one's treasure. Anyway, after our super fun night, Sophie and I decided to go though some of her old things and ended up trying them on Olivia. We had far too much fun using Olivia as our poor Guinea pig, but she didn't seem to mind. Here are two cute picts. In case we were wondering this is what Olivia will look like when she is 80, or the First Lady.

Biker Chick

Sophie has been diligently practicing riding her bike without her training wheels. She's gotten better each time. Today she started taking off on her own. I had to help her get started by the time we got to Mom and Dads so they could take a video (she was a little worn out by then). Way to go Sophie!

THE OLYMPICS START TODAY!!!!

I love the summer Olympics.

I love, love, love them.

The athleticism, the competition, the endurance, seeing years of training come to one or two millionths of a second. WOW!

Anyway, for the next two weeks I'll be too busy watching the Olympics to make a good effort at blogging, so see ya on the flip side. (unless there is some rhythmic gymnastics on, and then maybe I'll try to post something the girls are doing..)

Sophie's Email skills

Many of you have recently been blessed with an e-mail from Sophie. She works really hard getting the letters typed out. She types fairly independently, only asking for help when she doesn't know how to spell a word or when the cursor mysteriously moves to a different spot in her letter. Anyway, she loves getting them back too. So even if the person in receipt of the e-mail can't type back, she'd love a dictated note too (Jason...Terri!!!)
P.S. I'm also back from my bookation!

Fifth's Disease

It's official, Olivia has Fifth's Disease. Nothing to scary, Sophie had it when she was about three. It is a high fever (lasting three to five days) followed with a rash lasting up to 21 days. As soon as she had the high fever without any other symptoms I thought that it might be Fifth's, but then a friend mentioned that there was an outbreak in Los Alamos and is super contagious. Olivia seems just as healthy as ever, maybe a tad sleepier. She does have these strange rashes that appear on her face and then vanish just as quickly. Thanks to everyone for understanding canceled play dates and such. I hate being a public heath menace. Especially because Fifth's while it is not dangerous to kids, (just scary to parents) It is very serious for a pregnant mom to be exposed. So...we'll try to stay hunkered down in our house until I am positive she is no longer contagious......

CRAZY!!!!

We went shopping for Sophie's school supplies today, and unfortunately it was the tax free weekend. (sort of fortunate we got supplies without tax but....) it was CRAZY in Santa Fe. Everywhere we went the lines were long, long long and now we are tired, tired, tired. Then to make it all much worse, when we got home, Olivia was acting a little cranky. I put her down for a nap, (about 20min) and when she woke-up she was warm. I took her temp, and it was 100 F. Not so bad, I thought maybe she was just sleepy warm, so i took her clothes off. She was even more cranky and then I feed her and put her back down. When she woke up from her second nap, her temp was 103.5 F but without any other symptoms. Terri can appreciate this, I quickly took her out side in case she puked. I gave her Tylenol, and it's been many hours and she hasn't puked. (yippie) She had her bath, played, and giggled, but still I am so worried. I forgot how little babies can't tell you whats wrong.
